Words from our Superintendent
I hope you enjoy our third edition of our Bond
Construction Update. It is important that we keep open communication
for all bond construction projects. We are proud to announce
that we are under budget for the new High School by 5.1 million
dollars!!! This allowsus to
fund alternate bids, technology, furniture, off-site utilities, irrigation, landscaping, and equipment for the new High School. Total construction costs with an energy saving management system and a concrete alternate comes to $61,671,491. The $96 million dollar
bond will not fund an Auditorium for the new High School. Administration and the School
Board arereviewing funding options for an Auditorium.Special Communication: Administration
has recommended and the School Board has approved a new Master Plan to meet
the present and future demands of growth. Construction inflation would not allow us to build three (K-4) elementaries. The plan to reduce to two elementaries (K-4) does not work. Student enrollment numbers would exceed our recommended capacity by over 100 students
at East and North Elementary with the need for portable buildings. In
an effort to avoid overcrowding and most efficiently utilize the building
space we will have when the new buildings are finished, the following
configuration has been approved. Final
Thoughts: This new Master Plan will meet the demands of our
present and future growth. I am excited about this plan as Hallsville ISD moves forward and continues
to be the best school district in East Texas! Please visit our Bond Website anytime at www.hisdbond.info, or if you have personal
questions call Gary Lovelace at (903) 668-5990 Ext. 5762. These are exciting times for our students,
parents, staff, and community and would not be possible without the tremendous
support from our community for Hallsville
ISD. We appreciate you!!!
